Conservatism's Surge A True Change To Believe In

Last night's Republican rout in Virginia was a statement on President Obama no matter what Press Secretary Robert Gibbs tells us. The excuse that Virginia has always voted for the out-of-power-party in off year elections doesn't change the fact that the margin of swing in their vote since 2008 is astounding.  The same voters that put Barack Obama in the White House went for Bob McDonnell-northern Virginia which is practically a White House lawn ornament declared its independence from the D.C.machine on Tuesday.

The success of Chris Christie's New Jersey gubernatorial campaign is another loud and clear proclamation. New Jersey citizens are sick and tired of the corruption and stratospheric taxes-their decision to place their state in the hands of a man who is bent on cleaning up the Garden State bodes well for Americans demanding the same of their politicians in Washington.

It wasn't a lack of motivation and drive in candidate Doug Hoffman that cost Republicans the election in NY-23. His loss to the Democrat challenger, Bill Owens, says more about the Republican party's candidate selection process in the state of New York and the party's current divide than about Hoffman's ability to win. The Republican Congressional Conference didn't do themselves any favors when it convinced Scuzzyface....um, er...Dede.... to endorse the Democrat challenger.

Hoffman may not be the most personable, charismatic man; but many of the residents of that district were sympathetic with his values and appreciative of his practical approach to the problems they face. Coming from out of nowhere a few short months ago to make as big a splash as he did on both the local and national scene is indicative of the strength of the grassroots movement he represents.

There is more to celebrate from Tuesday's off-year election results than the capturing of two important governors' races. State referendums dealing with two explosive political issues were on the ballots in Maine and Texas. Maine voters overturned the previous legislative decision allowing gay marriage. It was a major conservative victory in that the Democrat governor had thrown his whole weight behind the new gay marriage law and state liberals thought it was going to be a law written in stone.

Though I am a conservative on fiscal policy, the scope of government and constitutional law, I am not what you would term a social conservative. The matters of abortion and gay marriage are not the uppermost on my agenda. However, I am currently an advocate for each and every conservative play that reeks havoc on the liberal power base in Washington. If that appears rather Machevellian to some, then I sincerely apologize.

But if we aren't practical and willing to come together with our varying ideologies to keep from losing our Republic's timeless principles to a bunch of liberals for whom causes are mere playthings on the road to power than we will have more to worry about than abortion and gay marriage rights. Above all, we must preserve the authenticity of these United States, that nation brilliantly designed and bequeathed to us more than two hundred years ago.

Leave it to Texas to seize the day and keep blazing that trail to true liberty and independence. Voters passed Proposition 11, allowing for a state constitutional amendment which "limits the use of eminent domain for public use and specifically defines "public use" to specifically not include "the taking of private property for...transfer to a private entity for the purpose of economic development or enhancement of tax revenue purposes." The amendment won't totally solve the eminent domain issue-there are still loopholes to close but it is a great beginning in dealing with government overreach. Can I hear a collective hurrah?

The other forty-nine need to look, listen and learn. Texas leaders' utter fearlessness in the face of government threats and attempted domination is beyond admirable. Sure, they may have more guts than cattle but then it's a question of what is worse: their condition or the problem other states have, which is, they're all hat and NO cattle! Texans believe wholeheartedly in those founding principles Washington. We need to hear that same dedication to the great cause of the United States of America from her sister states!

Those who voted for Barack Obama in the last presidential election succombed to his charming mantra, "Change we can believe in".  We have not had any change we can believe in. But his administration has demanded time and again in the short span of one year that we Americans change WHAT we believe in! And what we believe in is liberty and justice for all, just like it says in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Time to ante up state legislators. The stakes are high and now, now is the time to go out on the limb and demand your states' inherent right to govern themselves with as little federal government interference as possible. The conservative movement is on the rise and states are the ones who should be leading the charge!

Time To End The Blame Game

You were elected in November of 2008. You took the oath of office in January 2009. You've stood in the Rose Garden, Mr. Obama, a few hundred times, or so it seems-The Rose Garden, you know, the back yard at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, that place of residence famous for housing the Chief Executive? With your faithful companion, Teleprompter, by your side, you've given State of the Union addresses-talks to the American public reserved only for our President. You've been a frequent guest on the late-night talk show circuit. where you were introduced by both Jay Leno and David Letterman as the President of the United States.

Yes, I am relatively certain that you are indeed the President. You have visited overseas with world leaders such as Russia's Putin and France's Sarkozy where you were instantly recognized as our Commander in Chief. In the capacity of this nation's leader you have already signed numerous bills into law-and thrown out the first pitch at a Chicago White Sox game(of course, I won't mention how you threw like a girl) After ten months in office, there is no way for you to blame George W. Bush for the troubles you find yourself in.

You and your out-of-control Congress have launched us into the worst deficit in history, saddled our children with an insurmountable debt, verbally encouraged racial divisons, called Americans foul names and delighted us constantly with threats to the First Amendment. Adding to this conglomeration of problems are the scandals of ACORN, SEIU, Van Jones and reasonable worries about other so-called 'czars'.

The above circumstances were instigated by you, your White House staff, the Democrat-led Congress, and officials either appointed by you or associated with you through campaigning. None of them have anything to do with former president Bush, who's probably home in Crawford, TX branding cattle or tutoring students in speechmaking!

While W. did his fair share of landing us in the financial disaster we found ourselves in last September, and while he did enact such widely unacceptable policy as the Patriot Act, he had nothing to do with the whopping monetary disaster you called a stimulus. Legislation under you has unnecessarily exacerbated the already disastrous. Bush is not advising you to drag your basketball shoes while our boys fighting the war against Al-Queda and the Taliban wait and wonder why you don't seem to care what they endure. At least Bush kept America safe from a repeat of 9/11. Advocating for a strong national defense and ensuring the safety of the citizenry is, if I'm not mistaken, one of your chief responsibilities.

It is way past the time for you to stop blaming your predecessor for the country's current crop of woes! You knew what you were getting into-surely when you were running for the presidency you didn't think your job would merely be one continuous string of televised press conferences, glib commentaries, planned photo ops and White House parties?

I believe that the true weight of the highest office in the land has finally found its way to the area around your shoulders. At last, you possibly see that decisions are not so easily made along partisan lines-your decisions affect millions of people in this country and around the world. What other explanation is there for procrastinating so long on the issue of Afghanistan if not for fear of alienating the progressive left who put you where you are?

The fun of the campaign is over. The wheels have been set in motion by the actions of your administration. Many of your electorate are highly suspicious of your agenda. You, no one else, since you are the leader, have to make firm and timely decisions that impact our future. You, President Obama, have to face the consequences of your decisions. You need to address the will of the people and their concerns. You must step up and handle the day to day issues in a studied and timely fashion. Partisan politics won't solve the crises in Afghanistan and Iran.

This is the Majors. It's the bottom of the ninth, you're the third out, the count is full and the pennant is on the line! You cannot spend eternity in the on-deck circle, blaming the last guy who struck out for the position you find yourself in. This is not Little League-it's not the city government of Chicago or the state government of Illinois. There's no time for vascilating and whining. Because, as we all know, there is no crying in baseball! It is high time to move on from the excuse of George W. Bush. Your country is waiting for the strong leader you promised last year. You must think things through with all due haste so you can act when actions are needed. You have to walk up to the plate and swing-at something!

Lemonade for the King of Pop!

The state of California is about to issue its first IOUs for payment of debts in seventeen years. According to State Controller John Chiang, the IOUs total 3.3 billion. These IOUs will tank California's credit rating- already the worst in the country. State taxpayers will be stuck with billions in high interest bond payments that aren't even sold yet.

The California State Senate failed to pass a balanced budget and now the state won't have the money to pay its debts. The state currently has a 26.3 billion dollar deficit!

In order to free up some cash to aid in this economic nightmare, Gov. Schwarzenegger announced a fiscal state of emergency with state offices to be closed three days a week. Things aren't much better in the city of L.A. Matters have turned so dire that Mayor Anthony Villaraigosa, a Democrat who was set to run for governor in 2010 when Schwarzenegger's term is up, decided he would not seek the office. He said he cannot leave his city in the middle of such a financial emergency.

Given the above facts regarding the serious monetary mess which the state of California finds itself in, how could the city of Los
Angeles hold a memorial for the late Michael Jackson at the Staples Center for 4 million dollars-before they figured out where the money was coming from? The city council is actually phoning supporters to drum up the money to pay for that extravagant affair! Taxpayers not only have to worry about exorbitant bond payments, they now have to place their coins in the city's collection plate. It seems the fiscal irresponsibility that Gov. Schwarzenegger spoke about at the state level of government has trickled down to the city council level!

Don't look now, Arnold, but, you are like an unemployed father of ten with a house in foreclosure whose selfish child has maxed out your last credit card and hopes to sell lemonade to pay off the balance!
